A potential and sudden loss of steering control has prompted Audi to recall certain 2019 Q8 and 2017-2019 Q7 models, as the issue could in some cases lead to a crash.
The problem starts with the bolt connecting the steering shaft to the steering gear, which could loosen and well, you know the rest. Steering loss is the last thing you want while driving. The total number of units affected is said to be around 229, according to the NHTSA.
The German carmaker will proceed to notify Q7 and Q8 owners, letting them know when Audi dealers in the U.S. will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering shaft bolt, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on May 15, 2020, and if you have any questions, you can contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

We should note that the 2017-2019 Audi Q7 models in question are pre-facelift, which means that your updated 2020 Q7 SUV shouldn’t have this issue.
Meanwhile, Audi only recently announced pricing for its 2020 Q7, SQ7, SQ8 and RS Q8 models. The entry-level variant of the 2020 Q7 is powered by a four-cylinder gasoline unit and can be had from $54,800. The SQ7 model meanwhile packs a 500 HP V8 and an $84,800 price tag.
As for the 2020 SQ8 and RS Q8, the former comes in at a little under $90,000, while the flagship version of the sporty crossover costs north of $113,000, although the RS Q8’s 591 HP and 3.7 second 0-60 time kind of help justify that number.
