If you agree that not all Trans Am models need to be KITT replicas, then you might appreciate reading about this special edition 1989 Firebird, getting auctioned off with 19,000 miles (30,577 km) on the clock.
According to its Bring a Trailer ad, the car is one of 1,555 20th Anniversary Pace Car edition Firebird Turbo Trans Am variants, and aside from a few visual imperfections, appears to be decent shape, at least for a 30-year old sports coupe.
Of course, technically this is a T-Top thanks to the removable glass roof, which should make it more appealing to buyers who live in warm places.

The all-white exterior comes with a color-matched body kit, as well as Pace Car stickers, plus Turbo Trans Am, Indianapolis Speedway and 20th Anniversary badging. Other features include the 16-inch basketweave wheels with gold centers, BFGoodrich G-Force Sport tires, plus the high-performance suspension and heavy-duty brakes that came standard on Turbo Trans Am models.
Inside, the car has saddle leather to match the door panels and carpets, a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, 20th Anniversary floor mats and a Delco AM/FM cassette stereo with graphic equalizer.
As for performance, well, this probably won’t make for a particularly fun-to-drive car, at least not on any winding road. Its turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 engine was originally rated at 250 HP and 340 lb-ft (460 Nm) of torque, all of which went to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic gearbox.
When new, this car commanded a sticker price of $31,223, and while not all 1980’s Firebirds get the attention of collectors, this one had a highest bid of $15,000 at the time of writing.
