The Suzuki Jimny is already one of the cutest vehicles currently on sale and over in New Zealand, a dealership has just unveiled a ute conversion for it, making the pint-sized Suzuki a touch more practical while retaining the beloved looks.
The Jimny ute starts out life as an entry-level JX variant before a local conversion shop cuts off the vehicle’s rear end and replaces it with a small steel bed. Making the ute conversion all the more appealing is the fact that it is approved by the car manufacturer and doesn’t impact the Jimny’s warranty.
As standard, the Jimny features a pair of rear-seats but they are so small that they are virtually useless. Consequently, those who opt to have their Jimny converted into a ute aren’t really sacrificing much at all, except for a little bit of cargo capacity that’s protected from the elements. The ute conversion also adds a tow bar.

As the Jimny ute is based on the entry-level JX model, it sits on basic steel wheels and lacks a touchscreen infotainment system and climate control. Images show that the side of the tray can also fold down, making it easier to slide cargo in and out.
Perhaps the only downside of the Jimny ute is the price, with the conversion costing a cool NZ$12,000, or roughly US$7,300.
It remains unclear if the Suzuki Jimny ute will be sold in other neighboring markets such as Australia.
