Koenigsegg’s Sketch Challenge was warmly received by the design community and we’ve featured a handful of models created for the event in past.
The latest is the Koenigsegg Königsei which was penned by Mitsubishi designer Maximilian Schneider in his spare time.
Schneider sent over his work to us and explained that since “Koenig” means “King” in German, he came up with the idea of the “King-Egg.” He took this inspiration quite literally as he envisioned an egg with a crown on it.
This was translated into the car’s design as the Königsei has an egg-like canopy with long flowing lines which continue all the way to the rear spoiler. They, and the entire roof, have been given a golden-cooper aesthetic which references the crowned inspiration.

The bold color is contrasted by an anthracite grey body which pays tribute to Koenigsegg’s design philosophy. As part of this effort, the Königsei adopts familiar cues such as a double bubble roof, a wraparound windscreen and a “distinctive nose surface angle.”
This makes the model instantly recognizable as a Koenigsegg, but Schneider tried to add some sensuality by softening things up a bit. As a result, there are flowing surfaces and unique parametric air inlets which help to give the model a clean and streamlined appearance.
Schneider envisions the car would use recycled egg shell composites as well as a hydrogen-powered 6.4-liter V8 engine that produces 1,618 hp (1,206 kW / 1,640 PS). This would make the Königsei eco-friendly and fast as the 3,373 lbs (1,530 kg) coupe would be capable of rocketing from 0-62 mph (0-100 km) in just 2.8 seconds. The model is also imagined to hit 124 mph (200 km/h) in 3.5 seconds and a drag limited top speed of 274 mph (441 km/h).
The Königsei is a thing of beauty and you can check the rest of Schneider’s work on his Instagram page.
Thanks to Maximilian for sharing his work with us!
