The crew from Motor Trend’s Head2Head has tested some of the finest Porsche models ever produced and in this clip, we’re shown some of the very best driven by the publication over recent years.

This exhilarating clip bundles together a number of highlights from various tests, many of which were performed in the mountain roads of California.

One of the key standouts is a Porsche 911 GT3 modified by Sharkwerks with a 4.1-liter engine. Over the years, Sharkwerks has established itself as a leading 911 tuner and produces some of the most exhilarating and fastest 911s on earth, all without adding forced induction and ruining the purity of Porsche’s fabled six-cylinder engines.

Another highlight is a 991.2-generation 911 GT3 RS driven by both Jethro Bovingdon and Jonny Liebermann. Not only does the sports car look absolutely amazing but it is also one of the best sports cars ever built. It’s screaming naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter engine also happens to be one of the best-sounding powertrains of any road car and is more akin to a racing engine than one you’d expect to find available in a street car.

The two journos had the opportunity to drive the sports car both on some canyon roads and on the racetrack, pitting it against a McLaren 600LT, where despite having significantly less power, the Porsche was more than a second faster than the McLaren and almost as fast as a Porsche 918 Spyder.

With recent confirmation that an electric Porsche 911 isn’t on the cards, it’s nice to know we have many more years to enjoy new and improved versions of the iconic sports car.
