The coronavirus postponed the unveiling of the 2021 Ford Bronco, but off-road fans who can’t wait can opt for this 1979 International Scout II instead.
Currently listed on eBay for $27,900, this particular model looks immaculate as it recently received a body-off restoration.
As part of the process, the SUV was repainted its original Sunburst Yellow and equipped with Rallye Edition decals. The model also sports factory wheel covers and a removable hard top with sliding side windows.

The updates continue in the cabin as the Scout has been equipped with new carpeting, upholstery and trim panels. Despite these additions, the model retains its original vibe as there are a number of old school components including the dashboard, gauges and radio. Unfortunately, the latter appears to be missing a knob.
The listing is light on specifics, but power comes from a 5.7-liter (345 cubic inch) V8 engine that is connected to a three-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system. According to Automobile Catalog, the engine originally produced 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 265 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque.
While the engine is a lot less powerful than modern V8s, this Scout is equipped with power steering and power brakes. Like many off-roaders of the era, it also has manual locking front hubs.
While the Scout isn’t cheap, it has only traveled 36,381 miles (58,550 km) in the past 41 years. The model also appears in great shape thanks and it comes with an owner’s manual as well as a build sheet.
