If you want to take your VW Golf GTI MK7 to proper hyper-hatch territory, then you will like Mountune52’s new Stage 2-plus upgrade solution.

The new kit is the most advanced power upgrade that ever came out of the Group VW-focused division of Mountune, raising the output of the 2.0-liter TSI engine to 380 HP (385 PS) and 376 lb-ft (510 Nm) of torque.

That’s 70 percent more power than a factory Golf GTI MK7, which produced 217 HP (220 PS) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm). Mountune52 also claims that their VW Golf GTI Stage2+ is now capable of a 0-60 mph in just 5.2 seconds

In order to reach this level of power, the Golf GTI’s engine is fitted with a Golf R turbocharger, in addition to Mountune52’s bespoke calibration and an optional upgraded clutch. DSG-fitted cars can also benefit from the company’s TCU calibration upgrade.

The new remap is controlled via the company’s mTune handset, which allows the driver to change the calibration in a matter of minutes. The available settings include reverting the car back to its stock map, valet and anti-theft.

The new upgrade comes with a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty and is offered either as a DIY package or to have it fitted by Mountune themselves. The new Stage 2+ power upgrade for the VW Golf GTI MK7 is priced from £2,099 (around $2,600 in current exchange rates).
