Dramatic dashcam vision from Massachusetts has captured the moment a dump truck carrying gravel crashed and rolled in Boston’s O’Neill Tunnel, built as part of the Big Dig in Massachusetts.
Footage shows the Boston Water and Sewer Commission dump truck driving in the second-most right lane of the tunnel, next to a large semi-truck. At the 16-second mark, the driver of the truck starts to drift into the left lane before momentarily straightening up and suddenly veering again to the left.

The truck then begins to gently sway from the left to the right before it violently swings to the right and the driver hits the brakes, seemingly locking up the left-rear wheel and sending the truck fishtailing down the road before it tips over and falls on its side. The right-rear wheel can be seen popping off in the process.
The semi-truck traveling next to the dump truck as well as the vehicles traveling behind were all able to stop in time and avoided triggering a pile-up which, in a tunnel, can be extremely dangerous. The overturned truck sent gravel across all lanes of the highway.
It’s difficult to say exactly what triggered this crash, but there’s little doubt that the trucker’s sudden steering inputs played a key factor here.
According to police authorities, the driver who was a 30-year old Mattapan man, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
