The 2021 Genesis G80 will be unveiled during a special online presentation kicking off on Sunday, March 29 at 11 p.m. EST. You can watch the live-stream below.

We’ve been waiting to see the new G80 for a very, very long time. In fact, the South Korean automaker was planning on unveiling it in April last year but that date has been repeatedly pushed back due to various delays, including most recently, due to the coronavirus outbreak in China and South Korea that disrupted supplies. Nevertheless, we do have a very good idea of what to expect thanks to a series of official teasers and some very accurate 3D renderings.

Visually, the new G80 will stand out from the current model thanks to split headlights and a pointed front grille much like the GV80. Additionally, the new G80 will sport split horizontal indicators just behind the front wheel arches as well split taillights. All of these new styling elements form part of the brand’s ‘Athletic Elegance’ design language that will be introduced across the rest of the Genesis range.

Details regarding the new interior of the G80 remain a little less clear but we do expect to see the same features as the GV80. For example, there will be the same 3D digital instrument cluster and a widescreen infotainment system. The cabin of the outgoing G80 hasn’t aged particularly gracefully so it will be nice to have something much more modern and cutting-edge.

We expect the 2021 G80 to be offered with the same powertrains in North America as the GV80. That means a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder will likely sit at the base of the range with roughly 290 hp while a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with 375 hp will also be on offer.
