Shortly before Hennessey Performance outfitted its newly-delivered 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with a pair of turbochargers, the Texas tuner took the sports car onto the Circuit of the Americas in Austin for some high-speed testing.
This onboard-footage was captured when 15-time SCCA national champion John Heinricy was behind the wheel of the new ‘Vette. It includes some details from the car’s available Performance Data Recorder overlayed on the video, allowing us to watch the engine revs as well as the braking and throttle inputs.

The Circuit of the Americas is perhaps the premier racing facility in the United States and the Corvette needed 2:33.60 to lap it in slightly damp conditions. A Formula 1 car can lap the circuit in under 1:35 and a look online indicates that the record for a production car around the circuit is a 2:11.3, set by the all-electric Nio EP9 a few years ago.
A recent dyno run from Hennessey Performance revealed that its Corvette pumped out 466 hp and 451 lb-ft (611 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels in standard specification. Now fitted with a pair of turbos, power has been increased to 643 hp and 570 lb-ft (773 Nm) at the wheels and that’s before any internal changes have been made to the engine nor has the ECU been tweaked.
Expect to see more and more videos of C8 Corvettes hitting circuits across North America as customer deliveries continue in the coming months.
