Opel and Vauxhall have released more photos and details about their all-electric Vivaro-e van.

Previewed late last year, the Vivaro-e is based on the regular Vivaro but ditches the ICE powertrain for an all-electric setup. Customers can choose between two lithium-ion battery packs. The standard battery has a capacity of 50 kWh and enables a driving range of up to 230 km (143 miles) in the WLTP test cycle.

Those who need to cover longer distances on a single charge can opt for a 75 kWh battery which offers a driving range of up to 330 km (205 miles) WLTP. Oddly enough, Vauxhall quotes different driving range estimates of 125 miles (201 km) and 188 miles (302 km), respectively, despite using the same WLTP test cycle as a reference.

The batteries are packaged under the loading space, further lowering the centre of gravity and not eating into cargo capacity. Both battery packs are connected to an electric motor rated at 100 kW (136 PS / 134 HP) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque. The top speed is limited to 130 km/h (81 mph).

Charging the battery can be done via wall box, fast charging or even a domestic plug socket. Using a 100kW DC public charging station, charging the 50kWh battery to 80 percent takes 30 minutes (45 minutes for the 75 kWh battery).

Opel and Vauxhall offer the Vivaro-e in three lengths (4.60 meters/181 in, 4.95 meters/193 in and 5.30 meters/208.6 in) and with many body variants including crew cab, platform cab and people carrier. The gross vehicle weights range from 2,800 to 3,100 kg (6,173-6,834 lbs). As a result, it’s as versatile and flexible as any other Vivaro.

Its payloads are comparable to those of similar light commercial vehicles (LCV) with internal combustion engines. At 1,275 kg (2,811 lbs), the Vivaro-e’s maximum payload is almost as high as the diesel-powered Vivaro Cargo S 2.0-liter, which boasts 1,405 kg (3,097 lbs).

PSA also takes pride in the fact that the Vivaro-e is the only electrified vehicle in its segment with a maximum towing capacity of 1 tonne (2,205 lbs). Opel and Vauxhall will start taking orders for the Vivaro-e this summer, with deliveries following in autumn.
