A custom-built 1978 Dodge Magnum is currently up for sale through eBay with a classified price of $49,500 and while that may sound like a lot for a ’78 Magnum, the car is far from standard.
According to the seller, Garage Kept Motors, this Magnum was purchased by the most recent owner in 1990 when it was totally stock. Over the following 27 years, he tirelessly worked on modifying it to look like no other Dodge on earth and showed it to the world at the Detroit Autorama in 2017. At the Syracuse Nationals, it was given the Gene Winfield ‘Select 6’ award and in October 2017, featured on TV show Dream Ridez.

The exterior is, well, let’s just say the pictures speak for themselves. Much of the work was carried out by Classics Coachworks and new body panels were crafted from steel and painted in Tahitian Green Pearl to really give the American classic a unique look. It’s not as if the car simply features a bodykit either as the roof was chopped 5 inches and the body was extended by 6 inches.
Elsewhere, the Dodge sits on a set of aftermarket wheels and includes custom wing mirrors, a unique hood scoop, bespoke lights, and modified bumpers.
The modifications continue beyond the bodywork and include a Mopar 400 cubic-inch V8 engine, new front and rear disc brakes, and hand-built air suspension. The interior has also been comprehensively altered and includes front seats that swivel 180 degrees to face the rear seats, a new audio system with 15-inch subwoofers, color-matching LED ambient lighting, and a drop-down TV screen. All up, the build is said to have cost roughly $300,000.
While we’re sure the car won’t be to everyone’s taste, it’s impossible not to commend the work that has been done.
