The Tesla Model 3 you see here has obviously seen much, much better days, but hey, at least it runs and drives.
The electric motors, running gear and batteries are said to be all fine, except for a small dent in the latter that doesn’t affect the charging and range. Despite looking like it was developed for a dystopian film, it was once a pristine Model 3 Performance, with a protective film covering the red paint.

As demonstrated on video by the crew looking to sell it – we’ll get to the details in a moment, it still goes like stink. Nought to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) takes a mere 3.2 seconds in the undamaged car that tips the scales at just a little over 4,000 pounds (1,815 kg), and it has a 322-mile (518 km) range. The basic vehicle warranty offered by Tesla is 4 years or 50,000 miles (80,467 km), whichever comes first, and for the battery and drive unit, you’re looking at either 8 years or 120,000 miles (193,121 km).
The Model 3 was made in 2018 and has just 6,703 miles (10,787 km) on the clock. The ad posted on eBay doesn’t say anything about what on earth happened to it, but it does state that it has a non-repairable title, which means that it’s not road-worthy and can only be used for spare parts. The listing claims that it’s worth more than $20,000 in parts alone.
The starting price of $1 was doubled a few minutes after it was posted for sale last week, and a few hours later, it was brought up to $5,000. In the following days, people continued to bid on it, raising the amount to $15,099 at the time of writing. $15,000 was the reserve, and with less than an hour left in the online auction, it’s about to change hands.
The vendor states that they can ship it from California to New Jersey in exchange for $1,000, to Texas for $600 and within the state’s limits for $350. Nonetheless, worldwide shipping is also available, so anyone looking to place a bid should first ask how much more would they need to pay to have it delivered to their doors.
