The Audi R8 V10 Plus was taken to the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds in Florida to have its top speed recorded in a half-mile acceleration test.

This was a 2017MY variant of the German supercar, which means that it’s a pre-facelifted version of the second generation. As a result, we can tell you that the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, shared with its Italian cousin from Lamborghini, the Huracan, pumps out 602 HP (610 PS / 449 kW) and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) of torque.

With the throttle all the way down, the four-wheel drive model, which features a 7-speed automatic transmission, can rocket to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.2 seconds. According to the spec sheet from the four-ring brand back in the day, it can reach a maximum speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).

Naturally, hitting the dizzying speed requires a long straight, and the Florida runway where it was put to the test recently, is one of the few places in the world where even the fastest exotic machines can travel safely at full pace. It has a 3.22-mile (5.15-km) long and a 300-foot (91.44-meter) wide straight, which is more than enough to ensure safe passage.

Now, as we mentioned above, this wasn’t a regular top speed test, but a half-mile run, during which the R8 V10 Plus was clocked doing… on a second thought, why don’t you scroll down to the video to find out. And don’t think of taking a snack break while you’re at it, as the clip is only 1-minute and 22 seconds long.
