In an attempt to make social distancing more tolerable for people in need of movies to binge-watch, Audi decided to recommend 15 flicks that feature their models.
Audi cars and movies have had a work relationship for the past four decades. In fact, the first blockbuster film to feature an Audi was ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”, back in 1982. Since then, we’ve pretty much seen every single Audi model take to the big screen.
The car that appeared in E.T. was an Audi 5000, but like with actors, cars too can either have a cameo appearance, or be a big part of the actual production. The perfect example of an Audi starring in a movie is the S8 that showed up in the cult classic ‘Ronin’, helping film one of the greatest chase sequences in movie history.

So if we’re going in chronological order, after you watch E.T. and Ronin, you should look to stream 1999’s drama ‘The Insider’, which featured an A4 sedan. Then, in 2003, a TT Roadster made an appearance in Legally Blonde 2, with Audi developing that Candy Blue exterior paint color exclusively for the movie – although it was later available to order.
The late 2000s resulted in a whole bunch of movie appearances for the German brand. There was the A3 Sportback driven by Lois Lane in Superman Returns (2006), Jason Bourne’s A5 in The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), the R8, S5 and Q7 from the original Iron Man movie (2008), an A3 Sportback and an S8 in Taken (2008) and the A5 Sportback in The American (2010).
Then we have the R8 Spyder and A8 from The Wolverine (2013), A5 Cabriolet and S6 in Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), R8 Spyder, A3 Sedan, S8, S7 and Q7 in Fifty Shades of Grey, the all-new A8 and TT Roadster in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), the e-tron Sportback concept and e-tron GT concept in Avengers: Endgame (2019) and the e-tron, A7 and Q8 in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
In total, that’s 15 movies that Audi suggests you watch, but if we were to really go back and look at how many movies have starred Ingolstadt-built vehicles, well, that list would be much longer. Just off the top of our heads: all the Transporter movies. Also, the 2015 movie ‘Hitman’, which featured a red Audi RS7 performing a spectacular but rather unrealistic stunt. And let’s not forget that there were a bunch of Audis in Captain America: Civil War too.
