The R129 Mercedes-Benz SL is a perfectly fine automobile, one of the brand’s last old-school models that offered bulletproof quality and timeless styling.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t people in the world who believe they can improve on the R129’s looks. Some do the obvious thing and fit custom body kits and wheels to their SLs, while others adopt a more radical approach.

Say hello to the Benzillac, a nightmare creation that merges the styling of a 1994 Mercedes-Benz SL 320 and a 1960 Cadillac. Seeing this thing from the front, everything looks normal bar from the hood scoop and yellow paint which raise the first flags. After all, who paints their 1990s SL pastel yellow?

Moving on the sides, there’s no way to avoid the harsh reality: this is a 1994 Mercedes-Benz SL with 1960 Cadillac Eldorado tail fins. That’s not all, obviously. The taillights are also from an Eldorado, while the rear gains a spare wheel cover and lots of chrome.

If you want to know who you should “thank” for putting the Benzillac on the road, it’s a company called Sloan’s Custom Body & Paint from Portland, Oregon. A quick online search reveals this repair shop is permanently closed. We’d be surprised if the novel coronavirus outbreak is the only one responsible for this.

We’ve come across this abomination on Craigslist, as the Benzillac is for sale in Portland, Oregon. The seller describes the car as offering the “best of both worlds” and even goes as far as to say it’s the “most custom and fun car for the dollars.” Speaking of which, the asking price is $7,500.
