After BMW has officially confirmed an electric version of the next generation 7-Series, rumors and reports about the car have started emerging.
One of the latest comes from BMWBlog and speaks about no fewer than three zero-emission variants of the flagship sedan. Mind you, even the publication recommends taking the alleged information with a grain of salt, since nothing is official at the time.
Sitting at the top of the range will be the rumored i7 M60 – or is it the Mi7? The car is believed to replace the M760Li Xdrive, which comes with a 577 HP (585 PS) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque 6.6-liter V12 engine. The current flagship sprints to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and tops out at 189 mph (305 km/h).

The new EV might launch with at least two electric motors that should develop a combined output of over 650 HP. With the rumored 100+ kWh battery pack, the range won’t be bad either: up to 400 miles (645 km) on a single charge.
Now, as the range-topper might be a bit too expensive or overkill for some, the German automaker is also prepping two other versions of the car – or so it is said. These might be named the i7 40 and i7 50, boasting between 350 and 450 HP. The lesser model could be rear-wheel drive only, probably packing a single electric motor, while the other one should add an e-AWD system with two motors. All zero-emission versions of the new 7er will feature fast charging.
The 745e might be joined by another plug-in hybrid model, probably named the M750e, which could combine the 3.0-liter straight-six gasoline unit with an electric motor, producing in excess of 500 HP. The 735d diesel and 740i gasoline models will be powered by the 3.0-liter inline-six engines. The official unveiling date is unknown, but we are probably one or two years away from seeing the new-gen 7-Series.
