A motorist in the Californian city of Novato captured the moment the driver of a maroon Ford rear-ended his vehicle at a traffic light and fled the scene.

At the 2:20 mark of the video below, the red Ford stopped behind the cammer starts to inch its way forward before the driver abruptly accelerates and slams directly into the rear of the cammer’s car. The impact appeared quite forceful as the female driver’s head can be seen snapping forward as she makes contact.

Ordinarily, you’d expect such a driver to put their car in park and exchange details with the innocent driver after such a collision. However, that’s not what the woman did.

Bizarrely, she begins to accelerate forward once again and hits the cammer for the second time – possibly, while in panic mode. She then backs up and flees the scene, squeezing through traffic in the process. The quick-thinking driver hit from the rear was able to snap photos of the woman’s car and her license plate as she drove away.

The driver hit remained exceptionally calm throughout and shortly after getting back into his car, can be heard calling 911 to report the crash.

Writing on YouTube, the driver says police soon arrived to offer their assistance and viewed the video on site. Authorities were then dispatched to her house and caught up with her. Allegedly, she has quite a long rap sheet.

It remains to be seen why the woman rear-ended the man not once but twice. Fortunately for the driver hit, his insurance covered the damages.
