The Renault 5 Turbo is one of the most beloved performance cars from the French manufacturer and while we’re unlikely to see a modern version introduced by Renault, designer Khyzyl Saleem has rendered what such a rally-inspired car could look like.

The designer’s creation is based around the 2020 Renault Clio RS Line but the modifications made to the hatchback are so comprehensive that it almost looks like a brand new car.

At the front, bulky new bodywork has been applied and includes a bold bumper, black covers on the headlights, and rally lights. The front of the Renault 5 Turbo-inspired Clio also includes a custom hood to aid in the aerodynamics while helping to funnel out hot air from the engine bay.

Inspiration from the Renault 5 Turbo is particularly apparent at the sides thanks to the presence of large air intakes directly behind the doors and forming an integral part of the flared rear wheel arches. Adding to the rally looks are racing wheels and tires as well as extended side skirts. Perhaps our favorite angle of the car is the rear where there is a towering wing stretching off from the roof, louvers over the window, and the lack of a bumper, allowing us to see the huge rear tires and the dual tailpipes.

According to some reports, the current-generation Renault Clio may not receive any legitimate RS-badged versions and could be replaced by a hot version of the all-electric Zoe, effectively ruling out the possibility of us ever seeing another mid-engined, ICE-powered hatch from the marque.
