Messing with a 1957 GMC pickup truck isn’t something we’re ordinarily a fan of as the vehicle is often best left stock to retain its heritage and classic looks. With that being said, the following ’57 GMC owned by YouTuber WhistlinDiesel actually looks quite nice.

As stock, this turquoise-colored GMC was an absolute beauty with a number of white accents, including the front and rear bumpers and, of course, a set of retro wheels with white hub caps. Eager to make the truck unique, WhistlinDiesel opted to make some rather controversial modifications.

Most notably, the truck now sits on a set of aftermarket wheels. These aren’t just any old aftermarket wheels either and measure a massive 16-inches wide. As you can imagine, it wasn’t simply a matter of slapping them on and calling it a day.

In order for the wheels to fit, the truck had to be lifted approximately 4-inches and even still, the wheels stick out at least 5 inches from the arches.

Speaking of the arches, they have been left stock but may not stay like that for long because the new wheels hit the arches during cornering. Nevertheless, the wheels and the lift kit certainly make it stand out and differentiate it from all other ’57 GMCs.

In addition to the wheels and lift, the truck has also been fitted with a turbocharger although it’s unclear just how much power it has.
