A handful of spy photos of the new Haval H5 have surfaced out of China, not long after leaked CGIs of the SUV hit the web.
These spy images confirm that recent renders of the new H5 were legitimate. At the time, some readers found that from the front, the SUV bears a resemblance to the Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport siblings, neither of which have been introduced yet and have only been uncovered through a series of leaked photos.

Whereas the previous-generation Haval H5 looked like an unremarkable SUV with a simplistic design, this new one adopts a boxy new shape. The prototype spied features a pair of round headlights with circular daytime running lights. There is also a black grille with horizontal slates as well as pronounced front and rear wheel arches.
While the leaked photos only showed the SUV from the front, these spy shots also reveal what it will look like from the rear. Most notable are a set of inverted L-shaped taillights and a spoiler stretching off from the roof.
Reports out of China claim that Chinese buyers will be able to purchase the new Haval H5 with a choice of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, a 1.5-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid, and a 2.0-liter turbo.
One big question surrounding the new Haval H5 is whether or not it will actually be designed with off-roading in mind, like we know the Ford Bronco Sport will be. While it certainly has the looks fitting of a rugged SUV, there’s no guarantee these features are more than skin deep.
