The coronavirus has turned the world upside down and it’s spurred Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to launch a new ad campaign designed to convince people not to drive.
That’s unusual to say the least, but FCA is going full tilt as the social media campaign will include messages from Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep and Ram.
Jeep’s campaign kicks off today and it should be pretty familiar as it borrows heavily from the company’s Super Bowl ad which starred Bill Murray as Phil Connors from Groundhog Day. However, the message is different this time around as it says “We understand that every day is starting to seem the same. Stay home. Stay healthy. When this is all over, the trails will be waiting.”

Ram’s Work For Home campaign is a bit different as it pays tribute to essential workers who are keeping our country running in this time of crisis. Among those featured are first responders, health care workers, farmers and utility crews.
Alfa Romeo, on the other hand, is promoting “More Powerful In Park.” In the clip, it says “Right now, the only race that matters is the human race.” It goes on to say “The only way to win, is by working as a team.”

Chrysler’s ad is a bit out there, but Fiat’s We Are Italy campaign features a voice-over by Francis Ford Coppola. He notes we have been through hard times before and we’ll get through this as well.

FCA’s Chief Marketing Officer, Olivier Francois, said the company wants to “send messages of hope, solidarity and optimism to everyone who is doing their part to combat the spread of the virus, for the people staying at home and to those working on the frontlines.” He added, the company wants to encourage Americans who can stay off the road to do so as it will help everyone “get back on it that much sooner.”
