Ferrari is planning to introduce two new models this year, despite previous comments from the company’s commercial chief Enrico Galliera that 2020 would be “a year of consolidation”.
When asked recently by Autocar if that meant Ferrari won’t unveil any new models this year, Galliera said: “We’re always planning to do something more, and we intend to make some news. We will launch two new models by the end of the year.”
Galliera’s latest comments were made before Ferrari had to suspend production in its Maranello factory due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and that could mean that the planned reveals could be delayed.

Ferrari’s new models were scheduled to be unwrapped during the second half of the year, with Galliera hinting that these will be part of the brand’s range expansion plans.“We’ll keep looking at new, untapped markets,” he said.
Ferrari already launched five new models last year, including the F8 Tributo, the F8 Spider, the plug-in hybrid SF90 Stradale, the 812 GTS, and the entry-level Roma, as part of a wider expansion plan that involves launching 15 new cars within five years.
Of course everyone’s waiting to see the new Purosangue, Ferrari’s first SUV, which is slated to debut in 2022 but the main question is what other segments is the company looking at? “Potentially every segment is of interest to us, with the caveat that Ferrari is in the luxury sports car market,” Galliera said.
“When we look at new segments, we have to keep in mind the soul and positioning of the Ferrari brand, and that’s our only limitation. There are some natural segments, such as sports and GT cars, but we can look to others as long as they’re consistent with our heritage.”
Launching the new Roma as the brand’s most affordable coupe, combined with a set of fresh spy shots leads us to believe that a heavy update for the Portofino is coming while Ferrari could also introduce an electrified model featuring a brand new V6 engine.
