An all-new generation of the Haval H5 is being developed by Great Wall Motors and these images from Car News China show it will look drastically different than the outgoing model.
Production of the previous-generation H5 ceased in 2017. It was a rather bland looking SUV with absolutely nothing to set it apart from the crowd but with this new one, some significant changes have been made.

Most notably, the new Haval H5 adopts a more squared and boxy look. At the front, there are round headlights, a large grille, and two visible red tow hooks protruding out from the bumper. The new H5 also sports a black front bumper, black wheel arches, and black side skirts. Evidently, the Chinese car manufacturer will look to promote the SUV as much more ‘rugged’ than the previous-generation model. It somewhat reminds us of the upcoming Ford Bronco Sport.
Other features visible in these leaked photos show a set of roof rails and roof racks as well as black door handles, black wing mirrors, and a panoramic sunroof.
Little technical specifications about the vehicle are known as it is not expected to hit the Chinese market until the third quarter of the year. Nevertheless, Chinese reports say it will likely be offered with a 1.5-liter turbo, a 1.5-liter turbo plug-in hybrid, and a 2.0-liter turbo.
Word of this new Haval H5 being on the way comes shortly after it was confirmed that new car sales in China fell by over 40 per cent last month compared to March 2019.
