Infiniti is bringing its ProPilot Assist technology to the world’s largest car market, making its debut in the new 2020 QX50 mid-size SUV, on sale in China this month.

ProPilot Assist works by combining Lane Keep Assist and Advanced Intelligent Cruise Control tech in order to keep your QX50 centered in its lane and maintain a set distance from the traffic in front. This system is mainly designed to empower and support the driver during highway travel.

“China is an important growth-market for INFINITI and in 2019, the QX50 was our best-selling vehicle in that market. The 2020 INFINITI QX50 with ProPILOT Assist arrives this month setting a new bar for driver assist technologies in the premium segment for our valued Chinese customers,” said Infiniti chairman Mike Colleran.

In order to help contain the spread of COVID-19, Infiniti decided to unveil the 2020 QX50 in China during an online event hosted by local executives and with the support of a celebrity brand ambassador. According to the Japanese carmaker, up to 10 million people joined the livestream.

“After thorough local validation, it’s a pleasure to offer ProPILOT Assist to INFINITI customers here in China,” said company exec, Kevin Mao. “Anyone that drives on highways or spends time in heavy traffic during their daily commute will appreciate the benefits of ProPILOT Assist and arrive feeling less fatigued.”

The Infiniti QX50 is manufactured by Dongfeng Infiniti Motor Co at its Dalian plant, which has been producing the SUV for China since April of 2018.

ProPilot assist is one of many 2020 updates for the QX50 in China. The model also features a VC-Turbo engine, an all-new premium infotainment and connectivity system, developed exclusively for the People’s Republic, plus an updated exterior color palette.
