The 2020 Volkswagen Golf Mk8 has a pretty conservative design, so JMS is previewing their upcoming styling program for the popular hatchback through some pretty convincing CGIs.

Starting up front, the car has been equipped with an aggressive spoiler that visually lowers the model by approximately 1.2 inches (3 cm). That isn’t the only change as the Golf has been outfitted with red accents that draw inspiration from the GTI.

Moving further back, there’s extended side skirts and an aggressive rear diffuser which is supplied without any exhaust cutouts. While this isn’t ideal, it allows for customers to easily modify the diffuser to allow for custom exhaust systems.

To give the car a sportier stance, the model was equipped with a KW coilover suspension. The company also installed 19-inch Barracuda Tzunamee EVO lightweight alloy wheels which have a dark gunmetal finish as well as contrasting red lug nuts.

The production styling package is set to be launched in September and JMS says they’re also planning an assortment of other upgrades. The company didn’t go into specifics, but said we can expect “performance optimizations and exhaust systems.”

While these upgrades are still several months away, the 2020 Golf is available with a variety of engines including a 1.0-liter three-cylinder with outputs of 89 hp (66 kW / 90 PS) and 108 hp (81 kW / 110 PS). Customers can also get a 1.5-liter engine that produces 128 hp (96 kW / 130 PS) and 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS).

On the diesel side, there’s a 2.0-liter TDI with outputs of 113 hp (85 kW / 115 PS) and 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS). There’s also a plug-in hybrid GTE variant which uses a 1.4-liter TSI engine, an electric motor and a 13 kWh lithium-ion battery to produce 242 hp (180 kW / 245 PS).  Of course, there’s also a new GTI and GTD.
