This week’s eye-rolling recall is brought to you by Lincoln, in partnership with its parent company Ford, and involves select 2013-2016 MKZ sedans in North America.
So, what’s the problem, you ask? Well, according to the information posted by the Dearborn automaker, a bunch of MKZs may have been equipped with headlamp assemblies that were developed for China and Korea.

Their design may be identical, but the way they function isn’t, as they do not comply with the United States Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for the “headlamp beam patterns, illuminated side markers, horizontal adjustments and U.S. Department and Transportation markings”.
In other words, they offer poor visibility in low light conditions, which could increase the risk of having an accident. Luckily, Ford is unaware of any crashes or injures related to this issue.
The action includes 130 headlamp replacements, out of which 37 of them were identified in the United States. Some of them ended up being installed in selected MKZs, whereas others were sold directly to customers as replacement parts.
Ford will now reach out to each and every client, informing them of the situation and advising them to contact an authorized dealer that will take care of the fix. They did not say when the equipment recall campaign is scheduled to commence, but those concerned or who have other questions on the topic can reach out to Ford directly, using the 20C10 reference number.
