The McLaren 720S recently turned three years old, so it’s not the newest supercar, but it is one of the fastest and most exciting within the segment.

As a result, it fell in the hands of Evo again, which put Steve Sutcliffe behind the wheel and set it loose at the Anglesey track, in Wales, in an attempt to see whether it’s faster than the Ferrari 488 Pista.

The Italian blue-blooded machine lapped the circuit in 1 minute and 10.8 seconds, while another McLaren, the hybrid P1, did it in 1:11.2. Further up the chart, the BAC Mono 2.5 holds the crown, with 1:07.7, followed by the P1 GTR and Radical RXC Turbo 500, with 1:08.7 and 1:10.5 respectively.

For this run, the car was fitted with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires rather than the Trofeo R rubber and all electronic aids were turned off. So, did the 720S managed to beat the Ferrari? Now, we won’t spoil the end result, as that’s for you to see in the video posted at the bottom of the page, but we will remind you about the 720S and its awesome specs.

The 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint ends after only 2.9 seconds, and provided with a straight line long enough, it can top out at 212 mph (341 km/h). The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine lies in the middle of the car, pumping out 710 HP (720 PS / 530 kW) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque, channeled to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission.
