Elon Musk is extremely keen to begin production of the all-electric Tesla Cybertruck and recently jumped on to Twitter to share some more details about it.
Unlike the Rivian R1T, Tesla hasn’t been marketed the Cybertruck as a go-anywhere kind of vehicle perfect for those that want to get out of the city and explore the wilderness. However, it seems as though the vehicle will have some proper off-road credentials.

When asked by a follower if he’d thought about the wading depth of the Cybertruck, Musk responded by saying “Yes. It will even float for a while.”
Of course, this statement means very little as it is so vague. Most cars have the ability to float when driven slowly into water and many can float for over a minute before eventually sinking. If the Cybertruck is able to float for 30 seconds, we won’t find it particularly impressive. If it is able to float for 5 minutes without any damage, then we’ll be impressed. If it can float without getting any water in the interior, we’ll be really impressed.
Last week, Musk said the Cybertruck will come complete with an innovative dynamic air suspension system that will be able to “kick butt in Baja.” While it remains to be seen if Tesla will look to actually compete at the Baja 1000 with the Cybertruck, doing so could be an excellent way to prove its off-road credentials.
While the Cybertruck may be loaded with off-road tech, one thing it will lack is paint. Tesla will produce the Cybertruck with unpainted bodywork made from cold-rolled stainless steel and according to Musk, customers will be able to “wrap it in any color or pattern,” likely from an aftermarket supplier.

We’re working on increasing dynamic air suspension travel for better off-roading. Needs to kick butt in Baja.
