Despite the unveiling of the 2020 Frontier a couple of months ago and the coronavirus pandemic that has affected suppliers and automakers alike, Nissan will stick to the plan of launching the new generation in a few months.
The pickup truck is still on track to be presented at the end of the year, reports Autoblog, which quotes Nissan reps. Unlike its predecessor, which is pretty much a reskinned version of the Navara sold overseas and adapted for our market, it will be specially designed for North America, although the two models will share several components.

Expect a more modern styling with significant aerodynamic improvements and a weight reduction over the current truck, whose design dates back to 2006. Combined with the new 3.8-liter V6 engine that was introduced in the 2020 Frontier, making 310 HP and 281 lb-ft (381 Nm) of torque, matched to a nine-speed automatic transmission that retires the 5-speed manual and 5-speed auto, the new generation Frontier promises to be more fuel efficient.
The powertrain has a slight chance of launching in the bigger Titan too, which features an identical gearbox with different ratios. Meanwhile, Nissan is getting ready to bring the first units of the 2020 Frontier in showrooms across the nation.
