It looks as though the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E will be slightly more powerful when it reaches the hands of customers than originally promised.
A member over at the Mach-E Forum recently acquired a document from a Ford dealer training site that reveals at least four variants of the Mach-E have benefited from minor horsepower and torque increases since being first unveiled in November last year.
Sitting at the base of the range is the RWD Standard Range Mach-E, now rated at 266 hp and 317 lb-ft (429 Nm), up 11 hp and 11 lb-ft (15 Nm). Next in the range is the RWD Extended Range Mach-E which enjoys an increase of 8 hp and 11 lb-ft (15 Nm), bringing it up to 290 hp and 317 lb-ft (429 Nm).

Two all-wheel drive models are also available. The first, the AWD Standard Range Mach-E, is rated at 266 hp and 428 lb-ft (580 Nm), achieving gains of 11 hp and 11 lb-ft (15 Nm), while the AWD Extended Range Mach-E now offers 346 hp and 428 lb-ft (580) – 14 hp and 11 lb-ft (15 Nm) more than initially advertised.
It remains to be seen how Ford has achieved these horsepower and torque gains, with the most likely explanation being a further development of the electric motors to make them more efficient.
The leaked document doesn’t make mention of the range-topping Mach-E GT that starts at $60,500. When revealed in November, this variant was quoted as having 459 hp and 612 lb-ft (830 Nm) of torque. We’d be surprised if it too doesn’t enjoy the same horsepower and torque gains as its siblings.
