The McLaren 720S can mix it with some of the fastest cars on the planet, as it has demonstrated numerous times. For this test however, it wasn’t surrounded by any exclusive machines, but rather trucks and family cars, as it was taken to the German Autobahn for a top speed run.
With all modes sharpened up in the sportiest setting, the British supercar was floored, and before the driver knew it, the speedometer read in excess of 186 mph (300 km/h). In fact, by the time he decided to lift off the gas, he was already traveling at 213 mph (342 km/h), according to the odometer, which was probably showing a little more than the actual speed.

As some of you already know, the official top speed of the 720S is 212 mph (341 km/h), according to the official spec sheet, which also reveals the 0-62 and 0-124 mph (0-100 / 0-200 km/h) times of 2.9 and 7.8 seconds, respectively. Coming to a full stop from 62 mph (100 km/h) requires 98 feet (30 meters), and from 124 mph (200 km/h), 387 feet (118 meters).
The successor of the 650S tips the scales at just a little over 2,800 pounds (1,283 kg) dry. The supercar is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which is derived from the older 3.8-liter motor. The engine has been tuned to produce 710 HP (720 PS / 530 kW) and 568 pound-feet (770 Nm) of torque, and on a perfect day, with someone who knows what they’re doing in the driver’s seat, it is a 10-second car, with a matching price tag: over $300,000 in the United States.
