Skoda was forced to stop accepting orders for the new Citigoᵉ iV in the United Kingdom, after the initial production lot allocated for the local market, roughly 400 units, was sold out in less than 60 days.

A victim of its own success, the small electric hatchback will eventually return to UK dealerships as soon as the company resumes production, which had to be halted in mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic, Autocar revealed.

Review: Could The Skoda Citigoᵉ iV Be The One To Make You Go Electric?

The information was confirmed by a spokesperson, who told the British publication that “we had lofty expectations for the car and customer demand was exceptionally high. As a result, it sold out quicker than expected.” We also reached out to Skoda and will be updating this story once they respond.

The A-segment zero-emission hatchback can still be found on Skoda’s UK website, although it was removed from the online configurator. It’s listed from £17,455 ($21,492) for the entry-level SE and £19,815 ($24,398) for the SE L upper spec, while in Germany, it has a starting price of €20,950 ($25,796). In its homeland, the Czech Republic, the car can be had from 499,900 Kc ($19,883).

A sibling of the Volkswagen e-Up! and Seat Mii Electric, the Citigoᵉ iV is the company’s first electric vehicle. It debuted almost one year ago with an 83 PS (82 HP / 61 kW) and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque motor and a 36.8 kWh battery pack.

The small electric hatchback promises between 225 and 274 km (140-170 miles) of range on a single charge per the WLTP cycle, and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 12.5 seconds, topping out at 130 km/h (81 mph).
