Tesla has announced that all Model 3s it will sell in China are being locally made after production of two additional Model 3 variants recently commenced in the country.
Three Tesla Model 3 variants will be offered to Chinese buyers. Up until now, the only version being manufactured at the Shanghai facility was the Model 3 Standard Range Plus RWD but we now have confirmation that Long Range RWD and Performance models will also be manufactured locally.
The Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD, which has been discontinued in the United States, features a single electric motor driving the rear wheels and under the NEDC cycle, has been rated at 415 miles (668 km) of range. Local pricing for this variant starts at ¥366,550 (roughly $52,000) but that drops to ¥339,050 (~$48,000) after local EV incentives.
