What you’re looking at is the 1919 Chronotimer Flyback Blue & Leather from Porsche Design, a timepiece inspired by the iconic Porsche 911.

Porsche Design first introduced the 1919 Chronotimer Flyback two years ago with a Brown & Leather model. This latest watch adopts a more colourful look that includes a blue strap made from the same calf leather Porsche uses on the seats of its cars. The dial itself is also blue.

Driving the watch is Porsche Design’s Swiss-made Werk 01.200 movement that includes a flyback mechanism that allows for the measurement of successive intervals, such as timing laps at a racetrack as just a single button resets the chronograph and starts timing again. Those with a keen eye for detail can get a glimpse of the mechanism through the sapphire case back.

The design of the watch bears a resemblance to the Chronograph I introduced by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972 and measures 42 mm. It features a date complication, a screw-down crown, is water-resistant up to 10 bar or approximately 100 meters (328 feet) and includes red tips on the second and chronograph hands.

All Porsche Design timepieces in the 1919 Chronotimer Flyback collection are made entirely from titanium. This material is 46 per cent lighter than stainless steel but significantly stronger and is non-magnetic, anti-allergic, and more resistant to heat and salt water.

The 1919 Chronotimer Flyback Blue & Leather isn’t cheap and is available from €5,950 ($6,463) at Porsche Design Stores, specialist shops and online.
