Lamborghini has joined other big names in the automotive industry in fighting the coronavirus pandemic, and are now making face masks and protective plexiglass shields.
The supplies, which are essential for the medical apparatus in these challenging times, are being made in different departments at the Sant’Agata Bolognese car plant in Italy and will be donated to the Sant’Orsola-Malpighi Hospital in Bologna.

“During this emergency, we feel the need to make a concrete contribution”, said CEO Stefano Domenicali. “The S. Orsola-Malpighi Hospital is an institution with which we have had a collaborative relationship for years, through both professional consultancy in promoting programs to protect our workers’ health, and in research projects. We will win this battle together by working in union, supporting those who are at the forefront of fighting this pandemic every day.”
The Italian super sports car maker has the capacity to produce 1,000 face masks and 200 medical shields a day. The former are made by their saddlery personnel, normally charged with producing the interior and special customization of Lamborghinis, and the latter are made using the 3D printers from the carbon fiber production plant and R&D center. Prior to being delivered to the local hospital, located about 30 km (20 miles) southeast of the Lambo headquarters, the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences will oversee the validation testing.
In order to show solidarity during this COVID-19 crisis, Lamborghini lights up its historic headquarter buildings in Sant’Agata Bolognese with the colors of the Italian flag every evening.
