With the world currently gripped by the coronavirus pandemic, car designer and CarScoops reader Rezo Lomaia has imagined how the Covid-19 molecule could look if car manufacturers applied their design language to it.

The Covid-19 molecule, pictured below, looks a bit like a fuzzy ball with triangular-shaped tentacles. Lomaia’s car-inspired molecules were created using CAD, 3D modeling, and rendering software and form part of his ‘It’d be better if Covid-19 was a car designer’ series. He says the project aims to help affected communities stay positive by caricaturing the virus.

The Lamborghini one is perhaps our favorite. The molecule is painted purple and includes Lamborghini branding while the ‘tentacles’ have been replaced by sharp spikes, perfectly fitting of Lamborghini that is fond of sharp and aggressive lines on its models.

Another interesting one comes from Polestar and takes inspiration from the electric car manufacturer’s minimalistic design language and is finished in white and black. There is also one from Jeep that, fittingly, is the most ‘rugged’ of them all and adopts a boxy shape. By contrast, the molecule rendered for Porsche has more curved lines and bright yellow accents.

Last but not least is one from Fiat that adopts a rounder and soft design to mimic the styling of the 500. The attention to detail is very impressive and includes a two-tone exterior finish, green accents, and a small ‘500’ logo.
