Let’s face it, the 2020 BMW X4 is not the greatest-looking crossover in the world, and while the X4 M and M Competition variants do appear more menacing, they’re still not what we’d call pretty.
However, this particular X4 M Competition model, on display at one of BMW‘s UAE showrooms in Abu Dhabi, does have something extra going for it, and it’s not just the optional Toronto Red paint. The reason why it looks more planted (better) is the fact that it’s equipped with a lowered AC Schnitzer suspension.
Bringing something closer to the road is always a good recipe from a visual standpoint, especially if said vehicle tends to generally look a bit chunky and obtrusive.

The previously mentioned Toronto Red exterior is a $550 option in the United States, on top of the car’s starting MSRP of $80,400. The Sakhir Orange Merino leather meanwhile comes at no extra cost and creates a dynamic contrast together with the black leather surfaces and carbon fiber inserts.
As for the wheels, they are standard (for the X4 M Comp), whereas the front splitter and rear roof spoiler come courtesy of AC Schnitzer.
Speaking of the German tuner, it would appear that it also provided this sporty crossover with a power module, because the ad simply states that it now develops 600 horses and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque, without offering additional information.
When stock, the 2020 BMW X4 M Competition sends 503 HP (510 PS) and 441 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque to all four corners, rocketing you from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in four seconds flat. This one, it appears, might be a bit quicker.
