Last week, we featured a 1991 BMW 325iX that was on sale in the United States for only $6,000. There was a catch, however: that car had more than 234,000 miles (376,600 km) on the odometer.
Now we stumbled upon another 325iX that’s at the other end of the spectrum as far as mileage is concerned. Advertised by SuperVettura, which also happens to be the official UK dealer of Koenigsegg, this left-hand-drive 1986 BMW 325iX has covered only 510 miles (821 km) in its entire existence.

It is believed to be the most original 325iX in the world and likely the one with the lowest mileage as well. Interestingly, the car is unregistered and looks as if it has just left the factory back when Wham was waking you up before you go-go and Daryl Hall and John Oates were high on out of touch.
What’s the story behind it?
We spoke to James Huntley, Sales Specialists at SuperVettura, about the car’s origins. Apparently, it was part of a much larger collection in Europe. Here’s what he told us.
“We purchased quite an extensive and eclectic car collection (32 in total) from a Danish collector,” Huntley told CarScoops. “It included cars such as the P1 GTR, Enzo, F50, 250, Speciale, Barchetta, 512, 328, Pagoda – as well as the 325ix. When we arrived to view the collection everything was beautifully presented in a number of climate controlled aircraft hangers”
“The collector rarely drove any of the cars in the collection. The Ferraris ranged from 80km to 3,000km and of course were all immaculate. Many of the cars in the collection were delivered new and the doors had not been opened since. The iX is a great looking spec with the houndstooth interior and single wing mirror too,” he said.
Huntley says that the original owner of the car felt as though the first iX model from BMW deserved to have a place within his extensive collection, and he treated it the same way as the exotic offerings it was parked next to.

“I have yet to see another E30 of any type in this condition,” said Huntley. ” The spray wax that originally protected this car prior to customer delivery can still be found in the door shuts and in the engine bay – it is a truly unique example which has sat with the doors closed for many decades”
According to Huntley, the BMW was thoroughly checked over and serviced once it arrived to the dealer in the UK. “With the BMW, we wanted to keep everything as original as possible. It has had a new battery, an oil change and a thorough check over. We have left the factory tyres on the car to keep it in the most original condition possible. If the new owner wants to drive the car we would of course have these changed,” Huntley added.

The German sedan is finished in Polaris Silver Metallic and it features a blue fabric interior with thermal insulating glass. The 325iX also sports additional turn indicator lamps on the front fenders, which were an option at the time.
The 2.5-liter straight-six gasoline engine delivers 170 PS (168 HP) at 5,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 222 Nm (164 lb-ft) at 4,300 rpm. It’s connected to a five-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
About that, the E30 325iX is a historically significant vehicle because it was BMW’s first-ever AWD production vehicle and, therefore, the first AWD 3 Series. Besides the badging, one could differentiate it from the rear-wheel-drive 325i thanks to the flared wheel arches and larger sill panels.
Since it was a capable car in adverse weather conditions, the BMW 325iX was popular in the colder regions of the United States and Canada. European examples are rather rare, so if you’re looking for a 325iX, this one is probably the nicest out there.
There’s just one big problem: the UK seller wants £48,000 ($59,600) for it, including VAT. For export markets, the price is £40,000 ($49,650).
