VW has unveiled its Basecamp accessory line for the Atlas SUV, comprised of custom body cladding elements and unique off-road inspired wheels. The pieces are available individually or as a set in the Basecamp styling package.
The entire line was developed from design elements introduced by the Atlas Basecamp concept, unveiled at the 2019 NY Auto Show.
“Our goal is to provide customers with an extensive catalogue of accessory options that cater to their desires for distinctive styling and functionality,” said VW of America marketing exec, Hein Schafer. “The public interest and customer enthusiasm sparked by the Atlas Basecamp concept created a strong business case to further explore off-road-themed components for production.”

The package was produced by Air Design, and includes a two-tone satin silver and textured anthracite front bumper guard, textured anthracite fender flares with integrated splash guards, satin silver side door rocker panels and satin silver rear valance with trailer hitch access. The German SUV also comes with ‘Basecamp’ badges situated on both front fenders.
Also included is a production version of the unique 17-inch Traverse MX wheels built specifically for VW by fifteen52. These wheels were first seen on the Basecamp concept and can be had in two colors – frosted graphite and radiant silver. It is also recommended that you get 245/70 R17 all-terrain tires in order to best complement the design.
VW does specify however that the styling package isn’t recommended for Atlas models that don’t have a trailer hitch, or R-Line trims.
