One of the many questions that surround the Tesla Cybertruck is whether customers will be able to choose to have the body painted. The prototype we all saw had its bodywork made out of unpainted stainless steel after all.
Since Tesla doesn’t really release that much information on its vehicles, we have to rely, once again, on the words of the man running the show on social media. When one of Elon Musk’s followers on Twitter asked him about the potential of offering a color palette to Cybertruck customers, the Tesla founder answered: “You will be able to wrap it in any color or pattern”.

That probably doesn’t mean that Tesla themselves will start offering factory wrap options to customers. The process of adding such a service to a factory supply chain sounds like a logistic nightmare and Tesla has already enough on its plate with its paint shops.
What it sounds like is Elon stating the obvious for all the cars out there; Cybertruck owners wishing for a different color or pattern will simply have to send their vehicles to one of those shops to have them wrapped.
So far we know that the production Tesla Cybertruck will come with unpainted bodywork that utilizes “ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless-steel” for “superior strength and endurance”.
For some time there were some rumors of the company offering options other than the naked-steel look but given Musk’s latest comments, this probably won’t happen. To paraphrase the old saying, you can have a Cybertruck in any color you’d like, as long as it’s silver.
So far Tesla has accepted over half a million reservations for the Cybertruck, which, according to the official planning, will enter production in 2021.
