It feels like yesterday when the Nissan GT-R was considered the king of the drag strip, humiliating supercars priced twice as much as the Japanese icon. Fast forward to today and all it takes is a BMW to show everyone who’s the boss if you can refer to the M8 Competition as just “a BMW”.
Of course, we can’t overlook the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso sitting in the middle, perhaps the most radical model to come out of Maranello for decades. The Italian brand’s four-seat GT combines its glorious naturally aspirated V12 with all-wheel drive and a shooting brake body, which is something that still sounds bonkers for a brand like Ferrari.

Carwow pitted all three against each other to see which one is the quickest down a runway; both the BMW M8 Competition and the Ferrari FF are stock but the Nissan GT-R packs a few upgrades in order to have a chance against them.
This particular 2009 Nissan GT-R has been tuned to produce 630 HP and is also the lightest car out of the three, which something of a first for an R35 GT-R.
The Ferrari GTC4Lusso is powered by a 6.3-liter V12 with 690 HP, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a trick all-wheel-drive system. 0-62 mph (100 km/h) comes in 3.4 seconds while top speed is set at 208 mph (335 km/h).
The BMW M8 Competition makes use of the same powertrain found in the M5, meaning a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, which in this case produces 616 HP, hooked to an eight-speed automatic transmission and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. 0-62 mph (100 km/h) comes in just 3.2 seconds while top speed can be optionally raised to 189 mph (304 km/h).
The way the BMW M8 Competition launches off the line looks simply violent, showing the world that this is a car you shouldn’t mess with, even if you’re driving a V12 Ferrari or an upgraded Nissan GT-R.
