Audi continues to put its forthcoming 2021 e-tron GT to the test and was recently spied testing a heavily camouflaged prototype in Sweden’s wintry conditions.
One of the first things you may notice while watching the video below is the sound of the Audi e-tron GT. Yes, the sound. While electric vehicles are well-known for their almost completely silent running, Audi has implemented an artificial noise generator so the vehicle can be heard by pedestrians.
The existing Audi e-tron SUV features the same kind of system and throughout the clip it is particularly evident the e-tron GT prototype emits a rumbling noise that almost sounds like a large capacity engine.

Visually, the Audi e-tron GT prototype will closely resemble the prototype shown to the world at the LA Auto Show back in 2018. This means the sedan will have a very sleek and low-slung design as well as a set of sharp and aggressive headlights. The similarities will continue at the rear with virtually identical taillights.
Underpinning the vehicle will be the same J1 performance electric platform from the Porsche Taycan. When presented as a concept, the e-tron GT was good for 582 hp but it’s believed a more powerful version could also be available in the production car. While details about this variant remain scarce, it’s claimed that the 582 hp version could sit at the base of the range and be capable of hitting 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.5 seconds, 124 mph (200 km/h) in 12 seconds, and a top speed of 149 mph (240 km/h).
The range-topping model will likely offer similar performance to the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. The car should be good for at least 248 miles (400 km) of range on a single charge. Audi will likely premiere the production model before the end of the year as a 2021 model.
