Pricing details for the 2020 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid have been announced after the car made its North American debut at the Chicago Auto Show back in February.

Kicking off the local Sonata Hybrid range is the ‘Blue’ variant priced from $27,750, excluding $975 in freight charges. One step up in the Sonata Hybrid family takes customers to the SEL variant priced from $29,900 while the range is topped-out by the flagship Limited model at $35,300.

The latter adds features like the company’s Solar Roof System and the optional Hyundai Digital Key that works through an Android smartphone or an NFC card.

All U.S.-spec 2020 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid models combine a Smartstream G2.0 GDi HEV engine tuned to deliver 150 hp and 139 lb-ft (188 Nm) of torque with an electric motor providing an additional 52 hp and 151 lb-ft (205 Nm). Paired to this hybrid powertrain is a six-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai says the Sonata Hybrid Blue is rated at 50 mpg (4.7 l/100 km) city, 54 mpg (4.3 l/100) highway and 52 mpg (4.5 l/100 km) over the combined cycle. The aforementioned Solar Roof System charges the 12-volt and hybrid batteries and outputs 205 watts of electricity.

Hyundai says the roof increases range by roughly 2 miles (3.2 km) per day and prevents battery discharge from the infotainment and HVAC systems when the car is switched off. Another interesting feature of the Sonata Hybrid is Active Shift Control technology that monitors gear shifts 500 times per second to adjust the transmission rotation speed for quicker shift times.

2020 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid models will land at U.S. dealerships in June.
