BMW M CEO Markus Flasch recently hosted a question and answer session on Instagram and the executive used the event to tease the facelifted M5.

Shown in Competition guise, the teaser image shows the model will have new headlights which are borrowed from the facelifted 5-Series that debuted earlier this week.

We can also get a glimpse of the model’s redesigned front bumper which features large air intakes with pronounced black accents. The black theme is visible elsewhere as the model a black grille and black wheels.

Flasch didn’t say much about the car, but he confirmed the model will be unveiled “within the next couple of weeks.” That likely means we can expect an unveiling sometime next month, shortly after the 4-Series debuts on June 2nd.

While BMW is staying tight-lipped, the model will follow in the footsteps of the facelifted 5-Series. As a result, we can expected a revised grille and restyled LED taillights. The model could also have a new steering wheel, upgraded driver assistance systems and an updated infotainment system. The latter should have Android Auto compatibility, a cloud-based navigation system and support for over-the-air updates.

Engine options are expected to carryover, so the base model could have a 4.4-liter M TwinPower Turbo V8 that develops 592 hp (441 kW / 600 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. The Competition variant will also return and should have 617 hp (460 kW / 625 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque.

Besides talking about the M5, Flasch confirmed the redesigned M3 and M4 will debut in September. He added the models will be available with rear- and all-wheel drive as well as manual and automatic transmissions.

Last but not least, the executive said they’re working on the electrification of M cars.
