The all-new 2021 Genesis G80 is one of the brand’s most anticipated models and everyone wants to know how good the executive sedan is compared to its well-established German rivals.
While it’s too early for a comparative review between the G80 and the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, today we bring you a detailed first review of the new Korean model courtesy of Asian Petrolhead.
The video features the Korean-specification Genesis G80 powered by the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine rated at 304 PS (300 HP) at 5,800 rpm and 311 lb-ft (421 Nm) of torque at 1,650 – 4,000 rpm. The fact that this engine is also offered in North America as the entry-level choice makes the review relevant for U.S. viewers too.

In Korea, the G80 also offers a 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel delivering 210 PS (207 HP) and a 380 PS (375 HP) turbocharged 3.5 T-GDi turbocharged V6 petrol – the latter available in North America as well.
While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we will say that the 2021 Genesis G80 is a massive departure from its predecessor as far as the styling is concerned. This also applies for the interior which not only looks way more modern but also feels more upscale than before thanks to the better quality materials and more tasteful trimmings.
As far as driving impressions go, we won’t spoil the video too much for you. We will say that the car feels very smooth and comfortable to drive, as well as reasonably quick for its segment. It handles nicely too but you’ll need to check out the video for details.
