Jaguar Brings Out Facelifted 2021 XF Sportbrake Out For Testing

For the first time since late last year, Jaguar has taken a prototype of its upcoming 2021 XF Sportbrake out for testing alongside the sedan version of the current executive model. We’ve added new photos along with fresh information on the XF below. [Updated 5/5/2020]

The Jaguar XF is approaching middle age, so the British company is working on a facelift for their luxury mid-sized sedan and wagon, which is called Sportbrake.

The latter was spotted by spy photographers this week with both body styles to receive similar improvements as the 2020 XE released last year.

Despite the heavy camouflage, we can see the estate model has been equipped with new headlights and a modestly revised front bumper. The changes are echoed out back as the Sportbrake appears to have an updated rear bumper and slimmer taillights.

While the exterior styling changes are pretty minor, bigger updates are expected in the cabin. Like the XE, the 2021MY XF is to feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an updated infotainment system and a second touchscreen display for accessing the climate control system and adjusting the heated / ventilated seats.

We can also expect a new steering wheel and a revised center console which could see the rotary gear knob replaced by a more conventional shifter. Other updates are expected to include higher quality materials, new switchgear and revised trim / upholstery options.

Under the hood, there will be cleaner RDE2-compliant diesel engines in Europe and select other markets that comply with future emission standards. It remains unknown if Jaguar will offer the supercharged V6 as the engine is no longer available in the latest XE. Even though the rumor mill says that the XF could be offered with JLR’s new mild-hybrid powertrain that features a 3.0-liter inline-six engine producing 395 hp (295 kW / 400 PS) and 405 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque, it’s unlikely due to the car’s older architecture.

Bar any unexpected delays caused by the closure of factories over the pandemic, the facelifted Jaguar XF is reportedly scheduled to debut during the second half of this year.
