The facelifted Mercedes-AMG E63 got to stretch its legs at the Nurburgring once again this week while the camera was rolling.

Scooped in sedan body style, with the Estate to also join the lineup, the sporty executive model boasts the Panamericana grille up front, the biggest visual change compared to its predecessor, but definitely not the only one.

The headlights have a more compact design and incorporate the new LED daytime running lights, and the bumper sports a wider lower air intake. The horizontal taillights are joined together by a new chrome strip and the rear bumper incorporates a different-styled diffuser, separated by another chrome strip. The quad exhaust pipes, AMG badges, boot lid spoiler, and AMG wheels will further set it apart from the standard E-Class models.

We don’t expect any major upgrades in the cockpit, bar the addition of the latest MBUX infotainment system, the AMG version of the brand’s new trick steering wheel, and perhaps some new upholstery options.

Power will continue to come from the same 4.0-liter V8 engine, with dual turbochargers, that makes 563 HP (571 PS / 420 kW) in the current E63, and 603 HP (612 PS / 450 kW) in the E 63 S, rocketing the latter to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds.

The numbers game is the big unknown, as Mercedes-AMG may or may not have tuned the unit to make it more potent and/or cut the emissions, but the mystery should unravel in a few months, as the car is expected to launch before the end of 2020.
