After several rounds of testing performed over the last few months, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS has returned to the Nurburgring for some more fine-tuning.

The range-topping version of the series was spied on the German track with one leg in the air as it entered the ‘little carousel’, with reports from the scene reassuring enthusiasts by claiming that it’s one fast sports car.

Nothing seems to have changed visually compared to the last time we saw it in the open, as the prototype still wore the sporty body kit, made of new front and rear bumpers and big side skirts.

The huge rear wing, boot lid spoiler, louvers replacing the rear side windows, and dual exhaust pipes coming out through the cutouts in the diffuser will be the rest of the signature features, alongside a set of center-lock wheels that weren’t fitted on the test car.

In addition to the advanced aerodynamics, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS will make use of the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine. Here, we have mixed reports surrounding the output, as while some claim that 450 PS (444 HP / 310 kW) will be the sweet spot, others believe that the lump could actually be tuned to produce 500 PS (493 HP / 368 kW). The latter figure would place it just 20 PS (20 HP / 15 kW) short of the new 911 GT3, allegedly.

In the regular 718 Cayman GT4, the power unit pumps out 420 PS (414 HP / 309 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque, rocketing it to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds and up to 304 km/h (189 mph).

Porsche could uncover the 718 Cayman GT4 RS in a few months, but the exact unveiling date remains unknown.
