A few hours after leaking online, the 2021 Porsche 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S models have been unveiled by the German carmaker.
Like previous iterations of the 911 Targa, this new one features an automatic roof system that includes a wraparound rear window that Porsche says can be opened and closed in just 19 seconds.

Both the 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S models feature a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. In Targa 4 guise this engine delivers 380 hp at 6,500 rpm and 331 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque between 1,950 rpm and 5,000 rpm. By comparison, the 911 Targa 4S churns out 444 hp and 391 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque from 2,300 rpm to 5,000 rpm. Porsche says the 911 Targa 4 will hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds while the Targa 4S will reach the same mark in 3.6 seconds. Top speed for the Targa 4 and Targa 4S sit at 179 mph (289 km/h) and 189 mph (304 km/h) respectively.
Both models feature an eight-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission and intelligent all-wheel drive Porsche Traction Management as standard. Interestingly, the Targa 4S is available with the company’s new seven-speed manual transmission.
The duo also use Porsche Active Suspension Management that automatically adjusts the damping characteristics for the perfect comfort and handling in every driving situation. Also featured is Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus that uses an electronic rear differential lock with fully variable torque distribution.
All 911 Targa 4 models feature 19-inch wheels at the front with 235/40 tires while the rear features 20-inch wheels and 295/35 tires. Meanwhile, the 4S comes standard with 20-inch front wheels and 245/35 tires alongside 21-inch rear wheels and 305/30 tires. Braking on the Targa 4 is provided by four-piston calipers and 330 mm discs at all four corners. The 4S sports six-piston front calipers and four-piston calipers at the rear with 350 mm discs. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes are available as an option.
